Lotto Luck for Gerard


Luck was on the side of Meelin GAA club member Gerard Buckley when he won €9,300 in the Rockchapel GAA club draw held in Paddy Molly's Bar recently.Gerard was on his way home from a fundraising night at the dogs in Tralee in aid of Meelin /Rockchapel GAA clubs when he bought three tickets off Patrick Carroll.Rockchapel Secretary Mary Collins informed Gerard of his win a few nights later.Pictured above is a delighted Gerard with his cheque.


Ayrton Group Success


Congratulations to Kieran and Helen Linehan and all at the Ayrton Group for winning the Best Established Business and Best Overall Business 2016 at IRD Duhallow Business Awards held recently at the James O Keeffe Institute in Newmarket. Formerly HSS , The Ayrton Group has grown from humble beginnings to become the Leader in Health and Safety with offices in Dublin, Galway and Kilkenny and a state of the Art Training Centre at it's headquarters in Newmarket.

Meelin Hall AGM


The AGM of Meelin Hall Committee will be held at 8.30 pm on Wednesday 7th September 2016. Members of our community are encouraged to attend to ensure the continued success of the Hall and for it to remain the focal point of the community.New members on the committee are vital to bring new ideas and keep existing events going .

Meelin Community Council will hold it's AGM on Monday August 29th 2016 in Meelin Hall at 8pm, all are welcome.

Meelin Community Development Group


At the inaugural AGM of the Meelin Community Development group the chairman Kieran Linehan outlined that there was monies available to the Meelin area for development in the Area under the IWEA ( Irish Wind Energy Association) Good Neighbour scheme.He informed the meeting that a Constitution was prepared for the Revenue Commissioners and after it was accepted it received Charitable Status from Revenue.Secretary Mary Cussen gave a detailed account of the meeting that was held to date and she said the group is open to ideas as to where the money should be spent.The treasurer Denis McAuliffe


Clonmel win for Manleys Girl and Con Guiney.


Manleys Girl won the Kitty Butler in Clonmel recently.Owned by Denis Manley, son of the late Jim Manley Kanturk and bred in Meelin by Con Guiney out of his own bitch Class Attraction who also won the Champions Stake in Clonmel and a half brother of Manleys Girl,s Foot Solutionwho won this years Irish Cup in Limerick which was worth €40.000 to the winner and is owned by John Troy in Kildare. Well done to local Greyhound Trainer Con Guiney who is pictured above.
