Meelin Hall AGM 7-9-2016


The AGM of Meelin Hall /Community Centre was held recently in the hall where outgoing Chairman Ted Linehan welcomed the sizeable attendance and in his opening speech he thanked everyone for the work they did during the year.Secretary Eleanor Sheahan gave a detailed account of the activities held in the hall during the year and she outlined some of those as the hosting of the 1916 day, tea party and the very successful Newmarket Drama Group.Treasurer Mary Sheehan said that Insurance, ESB charges and gas fill up was the biggest drain in resources but she was happy to report a healthy balan

Community Centre


Meelin Sports Complex/ Community Centre held a very successful fundraising soccer marathon on Saturday 24th January 2015.It began at 9am in the morning with the local camogie club kicking off proceedings and it continued throughout the day with school children, teachers, and players past and present all playing a part in what was a fun day for all.The highlight of the evening was the "battle of the knocks" ,the O Sullivan family from Knockscovane taking on the Forrest family from Knockduff with the Forrest family running out victors on the score 12 goals to 8 goals.The Complex manager Denis

  At the recently held AGM of Meelin Hall Committee the following officers were elected for 2015, Chairman Ted Linehan ,Vice Chairperson Marie Forrest ,President Daithi Burke , Secretary Eleanor Sheahan , Assistant Secretary Conor Lehane , Treasurer Mary Sheahan , Assistant Treasurer and Membership Eileen Kelly , PRO Helen Twomey and Youth Officer Siobhain Daly.


Sports Complex


Meelin Community Centre was built in 1990 under the watchful eye of Fr Buckley and it was officially opened in November 1991.It was built to cater for the children and young adults of the parish and it is conveniently located next to Meelin National School.


Community Council


Meelin Community Council has now been in operation  since 2004 and under its chairman the late Gus Brosnan it set about cleaning the village,painting ,cutting the hedges and generally making the village a far nicer place to live and shop.Its members and as many volunteers as possible gather the first Tuesday of every month from March on for the big clean up.Meelin Community Council entered the village in the tidy towns and villages competition and over the years the ratings are improving significantly.In 2014 a new committee were set up and officers are as follows.Chairman Willie O Sullivan
